The Daniel Sancho case continues at the crest of the media wave. This week the spokespersons for the confessed murderer confirmed that Daniel has been left without a defense in Thailand, an obstacle that could harm the judicial process he faces since he was accused of the murder of Colombian surgeon Edwin Arrieta.

In order to defend the honor of the surgeon, his family has opted for a new strategy. His loved ones have hired the services of a team of Spanish lawyers, whose objective will be based on Daniel Sancho obtaining the maximum prison sentence.

The new legal representative of the victim, Juan Gonzalo Espina, has detailed in Mañaneros his plan to obtain the maximum sentence: “Edwin Arrieta’s family has sought new representation in Spain to coordinate the entire defense of the rights of Edwin’s death,” reveals the lawyer, who also shares the reason for his hiring: “They want the full weight of the law to fall and they want Edwin to be respected.”

Likewise, Espina has revealed in the TVE program what his three main short-term objectives are: “First of all, we are going to coordinate with Colombia some elements to bring Edwin’s body to the country, but we have to be cautious,” he says. the lawyer, who is clear that “you have to be in contact with the Thai team and you have to approach the authorities.”

Lastly, the family emphasizes the importance of the victim’s honor: “We are going to be attentive to ensuring that Edwin’s death and dignity are respected. We are going to demand any right when his dignity is violated,” says Espina.

Regarding the treatment by the media in our country, Edwin Arrieta’s family admits to being dissatisfied: “It has been the main trigger for why they have made that decision. The family has felt desolate and helpless and they have felt abandoned by some media” says the lawyer, who seeks fair media treatment for the victim.
