April has left us two international audiovisual phenomena that have had no rival in our country and around the world: My Stuffed Reindeer and The Asunta Case. Since their premiere, both productions have occupied the top positions of the most viewed on the Netflix platform, but they have also given rise to hundreds of headlines about the different cases, since they are based on real stories.

With the arrival of May, Amazon Prime Video has published a new series that is hitting the internet. This is Maxton Hall, a teenage fiction that is based on the romantic novel Save Me, by Mona Kasten. In charge of directing the project are Martin Schreier and Tarek Roehlinger.

Although the production does not discover the gunpowder, it works like few others. The story introduces us to two intense protagonists: James, a handsome rich young man played by actor Damian Hardung, and Ruby, played by Harriet Herbig-Matten, a working-class girl who arrives at the prestigious Maxton Hall school thanks to a scholarship.

The young woman witnesses a secret and the millionaire boy tries by all means to silence her. Throughout the six chapters, the characters experience all kinds of situations and, as expected, end up starring in a difficult, but tender love story that has resonated with the audience.

The social response on social networks like X (previously known as Twitter) has been spectacular. Hundreds of people have received the series in a big way and have praised the construction of the characters, the script and the plots, which address important themes such as class differences, elitism, vulnerability in adolescence, etc. There are those who have drawn a resemblance to the famous movie Saltburn.

”Very good Maxton Hall. I liked it a lot and it left me wanting more”, ”Maybe it’s very cliché, but it’s been so long since a series has conveyed so much to me that this has become my new obsession” or ”One of the best adaptations I’ve ever seen. I have seen”, are some of the comments that can be read on Elon Musk’s platform.

Many have praised the set of the series and have even wondered if there is a school called Maxton Hall in Germany. However, the series was filmed in the well-known Marienburg Palace, located in the federal state of Lower Saxony in Germany.

In addition to the actors mentioned above, other German faces known to the public also participate in this project: Runa Greiner, Clelia Sarto, Justus Riesner, Eidin Jalali, Fedja van Huêt, Ben Felipe, Sonja Weißer and Andrea Guo, among others.

Since the fiction premiered only five days ago, the streaming platform has not yet confirmed its renewal for a second season. On the other hand, we know that the first batch of chapters is inspired by the first book of Kasten’s trilogy, which makes us believe (along with the success it is having) that Prime Video will continue, at least, with another season.
