Parquets made with fine woods, that is, parquet, represent one of the preferred options for many when choosing the flooring in their homes. This is due to the large number of advantages they provide that go beyond the aesthetic component. One of them has to do with its qualities as a thermal insulator, which allows you to walk on it without the need for shoes and with total comfort. They are also long-lasting, especially if given proper care. Which leads to the next point: its easy maintenance.

However, not everything is rosy with parquet, generally due to ignorance or bad practices, it can be damaged or even suffer from certain defects. One of the most feared is that the parquet floorboards rise. If this happens, the cause that has given rise to this situation will have to be found. And put into practice a series of tips to remedy it.

The most common reason that explains why the parquet has lifted has to do with excess humidity. When planks are exposed to excessive levels of humidity, the result is that the wood eventually swells and lifts due to not having enough space. However, it could also be an error during installation, specifically due to not having taken into account adequate separation. In response to heat and humidity, wood expands. And, once again, since he can’t find enough space, he ends up getting up.

Another common reason has to do with poor care of the parquet, especially if excessive water is used for cleaning and/or inappropriate products. All of this will cause the planks to lift and also cause the wood to lose its original good appearance.

In cases where the problem that has caused the parquet to lift is humidity, the main thing will be to remedy this. That is, regulating the humidity in the environment, if this has been the culprit; trying to identify and repair any possible leaks, or reviewing the cleaning techniques used to maintain the floor. If the condition of the parquet is recoverable, the excess water must be removed and given a good polishing and varnishing so that it is ready again.

On the other hand, especially in the case of not having experience, it is advisable to opt for an installation carried out by professionals, since in this way the risk of making mistakes during the process is prevented and that they could end up in this type of situation with damage.
