If the Star Wars brand has proven one thing, it is that it is only exhausted depending on who borrows from the fictional universe created by George Lucas in 1977. You just have to see how, after The Book of Boba Fett and Obi-Wan Kenobi, Tony Gilroy marveled at Andor, which in turn served as a prequel to Rogue One. And, in this area, the most enigmatic project to come out of Lucasfilm is approaching: The Acolyte, which Disney has announced that can be seen starting June 4 .

The reasons for drawing attention are basically three. There’s the creator, Leslye Headland, who last won over critics with Russian Doll, a female stoner comedy about time travel.

There is also the cast, which has such interesting actors as Lee Jung-jae, Emmy winner for The Squid Game, or Jodie Turner-Smith (Anne Boleyn), Manny Jacinto (The Good Place), Dafne Keen (His Dark Materials ) or Amandla Stenberg, who played Rue in The Hunger Games.

And finally, there is the time frame in which the story will take place: the end of the High Republic, a period explored in the comics linked to George Lucas’ universe but which has not yet been seen on screen.

The Acolyte is a mystery thriller that Lucasfilm reports will take viewers to explore the darkest secrets of the galaxy and the emergence of the powers of the Dark Side during the final days of the High Republic. A Jedi master, with the help of his padawan, will investigate the crimes, but they will realize that they are facing forces more sinister than they could imagine.

The High Republic, for those who cannot locate it, is the period compressed between 300 and 82 years before the rise of the Empire. The Galactic Republic was in a time of prosperity, the Jedi maintained peace and balance in the galaxy and the republic was still in the expansion and exploration phase of the Outer Rim Territories.
