In one week Daniel Sancho’s life will change completely. On April 9, Rodolfo Sancho’s son will face trial for the alleged murder and dismemberment of plastic surgeon Edwin Arrieta.
Just six days before the trial, for which the chef could be sentenced to the death penalty, his lawyer has revealed the legal strategy that his team will follow. We tell you all the details below.
During his visit to the Let’s see program, lawyer Marcos García Montes assures that the accused is “well and calm” before his trial, which will have more than 50 witnesses and statements.
The lawyer has revealed his line of defense, which will be based on demonstrating that the death of the Colombian surgeon is a “reckless homicide” and not a premeditated murder at the hands of Sancho.
Regarding his modus operandi, the lawyer will try to “challenge” much of the investigation carried out by the Thai police: “We have prepared a 60-page report examining the evidence. In the reconstruction there was no prosecutor, there was no judge, There was no lawyer and there were also leaks from the police,” says García Montes.
Finally, the lawyer refers to the autopsy, highlighting that to date the cause of death is unknown: “He is detained saying that they are going to deport him to Spain, that he should sign a statement without a lawyer. Only Daniel’s last statement can be moderately valid because it is done with a lawyer and it is in which he says that it is a fight” states the lawyer, who will ask that “the reconstruction” of the crime be invalidated because neither the judge nor the prosecutor were present.
