Daniel Sancho, Rodolfo Sancho’s son, is under arrest after allegedly being accused of murdering Edwin Arrieta Arteaga, a Colombian surgeon with whom he was on vacation on an island in Thailand. The body was found dismembered inside some black bags located in a landfill in Koh Pha Ngan. According to the latest information, the 29-year-old denied having killed the doctor, but later confessed to the police that he himself was the one who killed and dismembered him.
Daniel Sancho Bronchalo, son of Rodolfo Sancho and Silvia Bronchalo, was transferred this Friday to the Koh Phangan police station to be questioned in relation to the disappearance of Edwin, 44 years old. Pol Lt Gen Surapong Thanomjit, commissioner of Provincial Police Region 8, says police found more evidence believed to be human body parts after searching a hotel room believed to be the location where the murder took place. .
The young Spaniard was the last person seen with the victim before his body parts were found, which is why the police were looking for evidence to arrest him. It was Sancho himself who went to the police station on Thursday night to report Edwin’s disappearance, but that happened after the alarm went off because human remains had been found in a garbage dump at Moo 4 on Koh Phangan.
Local authorities point out that the family of the Colombian surgeon has assured that Edwin had been in a relationship with the son of the renowned Spanish actor for more than a year. The couple had gone to Koh Phangan in Surat Thani to attend a full moon party, and after this, Arrieta’s relatives were unable to contact him. It was then that they contacted Sancho, but the Spaniard said that he had not seen him.
“We still don’t know the motive for the murder. Initially, we believe it could be due to a jealous rage,” says Pol Lt Gen Surapong. “The investigation found that Daniel Sancho had prepared himself thoroughly by purchasing other items to conceal the body. After being detained for immigration offenses and having his visa revoked, he showed clear signs of stress, but still refused to confess. I have instructed the police to monitor him closely for fear that he may resort to suicide,” the commissioner said.
According to the Bangkok Post, a police source assured that during the interrogation, Sancho told the investigators that he had taken Arrieta to his room. She claimed that the man wanted to have sex with him, but he refused. Going into a fit of rage, he punched his friend, causing the victim to fall unconscious after hitting her head on a bathtub. Subsequently, Daniel decided to cut the body into 14 parts. Some of these parts have been found in different places, others were thrown into the sea.
