Life has been full of ups and downs for Dani Martín. The Madrid singer, leader of El canto del loco, has gone through a multitude of experiences since he entered the musical world. The rise of his band led him to touch the heavens of Spanish rock, before gradually dissolving and going on to lead a successful solo career. He is currently in temporary retirement, after a long time active without rest, and has taken advantage of the time to say a heartfelt goodbye.

Martín published this past Wednesday a tribute to a deceased friend on his Instagram profile. The written meaning was accompanied by a symbolic image: the original cover of Rock Transgresivo, the debut album by the band Extremoduro, released in 1989. According to the artist, this was the album that, thanks to the help of his partner, started him in the world of music and rock. In addition, it expressed his most sincere gratitude for each day that he lived with him.

“At the age of 15, he taught me this record and how to play the guitar, rest in peace, a high school classmate and friend D.V. Grateful and remembering you today with Joy and listening to this record that hardly anyone knew at the time. Every day is a gift, Joy. Enjoy every second that this is over. Cheers,” she wrote in the Instagram post. The comments were filled with farewell messages for his deceased friend, including close acquaintances.

The singer shared his thoughts with his followers a few weeks ago: “He needed to be with me, that is so difficult for us. I wanted the noise of my head making an absolute catharsis when walking the first hours. The next day, I began to enjoy the landscape, being with me, the smells, Galicia, not meeting anyone for hours. I enjoyed the rain, the smell of wet grass. In the meantime, I was reading that he had mental health problems and I was laughing.”

“Issues? I am the luckiest being in this life, I have time, two sticks, desire, enthusiasm and five stages ahead to place a lot of things. Issues? None. Just lucky to breathe what I breathed on those roads, freedom, precious thoughts of this wonderful life. I did not eat Mr. Wonderful: I ate 125 km walking in 5 days from Sarria to Santiago, ”he explained, having recently completed the Camino de Santiago.

The last time that Martín stepped on a stage was on June 30, and he did it in the most unexpected way possible. It was during a concert by Alejandro Sanz, in which his professional partner filled the WiZink Center in Madrid to the brim. The former leader of El canto del loco stood up the pavilion with his surprise entrance, applauded by the thousands of spectators present, before singing Viviendo Prisa with Alejandro on guitar.
