A whirlwind. That was María Jiménez. The woman who sang about her ended sexist violence, that she broke molds with her irreverent character, excessive and without mincing words. That she fought to be free and that, now after her death, she has become a legend.
La Sevilla, who will be buried this Friday in her native Seville, has left her mark on many of our country’s communicators. One of them, Cristina Pardo, who in her Más Vale Tarde, on Sexta, recounted in a relaxed tone the day she interviewed the actress and it was not easy for her due to that “overwhelming personality.”
This Thursday, all the media dedicated part of their space to saying goodbye to and honoring María Jiménez. The cameras moved to Seville, the artist’s city, to capture the arrival of the coffin to the church, where a public wake began, as was her express wish.
During one of the gatherings on La Sexta, specifically, on Más Vale Tarde, Cristina Pardo revealed one of the funniest anecdotes that had happened to her with Jiménez. A moment that occurred in December 2020, when the Navarrese presented Liarla Pardo, her weekend program.
“I interviewed her once for the Sunday show. I didn’t know her,” she began explaining. “There was something that caught my attention and that was sitting down and the whole time I was saying to myself: ‘Wow, how long this is. But when does this end?’” the presenter said.
Of course, right at the end of the interview, María Jiménez told her that she “loved her very much.” To which Pardo recalled with a laugh: “But what will you say to the people you don’t like?” And for the journalist this interview was “impossible”, although she remembers it with great affection.
