Chronology of the sexual abuse complaint against Cándido Conde-Pumpido Valera: End of a judicial nightmare

Cándido Conde-Pumpido Valera, son of the president of the Constitutional Court, has been involved in a judicial process in recent months. The lawyer was arrested last Friday, November 3, 2023 for an alleged group sexual assault. This week it came to light that the Investigative Court No. 31 of Madrid has decided to archive the complaint that Aline, a young Brazilian woman, had filed against Cándido and two other men.

Today, Friday! will review the case that has involved Lara Dibildos’ ex-partner. But how has the case developed in recent months? We do a review. It was on Sunday, November 5, when the news came to light that Cándido had been released after spending several hours in the cell due to a complaint of participation in an alleged sexual assault of a Brazilian prostitute in Madrid. As was later learned, thanks to the program And Now Sonsoles, the police arrived at the home of the judge’s son around 7:20 p.m. This is what the police report said.

At that moment, the lawyer did not answer the phone, however, an hour later one of the lawyer’s friends, also reported, arrived. Later, his mother and another friend arrived. Since no one answered the calls, the lawyer’s mother called an ambulance, since she claimed that he was taking strong medication. It was then that it was decided to force the bowler hat and then, from within, the lawyer assured that “he was asleep and that nothing was happening to him.”

After the ambulance arrived, the lawyer’s parent requested that he undergo a medical-psychiatric evaluation. Once at the hospital, she proceeded to arrest him. Around 4 a.m., Cándido was kept in custody at the hospital until the next morning, when he went to testify in court accompanied by his lawyer.

Finally, on November 5, the investigating court number 44 of Madrid released the three defendants, without any precautionary measure. On the other hand, the Prosecutor’s Office requested a restraining order on the victim. Those responsible for the investigation stated that the images provided by the defense did not show any of the accused at the scene. The recordings showed several of the rooms of the chalet in question, but none of the people reported by the alleged victim were there.

Shortly after, on Tuesday of that following week, he suffered an anxiety crisis that took him back to the hospital for a few hours. Later, it was learned that he had had to be admitted again for an alleged self-inflicted attempt. Then, it was stated that the lawyer had been very psychologically affected by the complaint and all the media commotion that it generated.

On November 6, it came to light that the complainant had had various problems with the justice system in Brazil, the country from which she is originally from. As reported by the Vox Pópuli media, the woman would have been accused and summoned to testify on almost thirty occasions, for crimes such as non-payment, crimes against road safety and even drug trafficking. The case took a turn when this woman decided on November 23 to withdraw her complaint. According to Europa Press, the victim had “waived the corresponding civil and criminal actions.”

On December 12, a little over a month after the lawyer’s alleged sexual assault came to light, the Civil Guard arrested the woman complainant in Malaga. The arrest occurred pursuant to an international search warrant issued by Brazil for an attempted murder in that country. The 37-year-old woman was wanted and captured in her country of origin for trying to stab another woman in 2022. Subsequently, the woman was placed in provisional prison, awaiting her extradition to the Latin American country.

After some of the most complicated months, the lawyer can now breathe easy, since it was last Wednesday, January 10, when it was learned that the Investigative Court No. 31 of Madrid had decided to file the complaint against himself and two other friends of his. The judge shelved the case that has kept the lawyer hospitalized in a psychiatric clinic after a “collapse of his mental health.” The complaint included an alleged group rape, however, its contradictions have ended up closing the case. Now his lawyer and his family can rest easy.
