The love story between Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro has come to an end, as revealed on Tuesday by the American magazine People. The couple would have broken their engagement, announced on March 24 through the music video for Beso. The same day they also released their first musical project together: the three-song EP R?.
Without confirmation of the break by the protagonists at the moment, the couple has spoken on numerous occasions about their relationship, revealing in what terms and when it began. A gesture by Rauw Alejandro in an interview with Billboard revealed that the couple could have started contact through social networks in 2019, and the Puerto Rican musician also acknowledged that they met in person the same year at a hotel in Las Vegas during the Latin Grammys.
As Rauw described, they met “in music” and it was “100 percent love at first sight.” He acknowledged that from the first moment he launched himself and began to show interest in her: “I don’t want to throw away all the bullets because she’s not here… But it was me, the man always has to throw away the corn.”
Those first meetings evolved into a secret relationship in which they even collaborated on the song Tell him (2020) in which Rosalía does the choruses for the Puerto Rican long before their love was known.
On September 24, 2021, when paparazzi images that had started the rumor mill were already circulating through the media and networks, Rosalía published their first TikTok video together. In it they made a heart with their arms and it became a viral publication that at the time was seen by more than 100 million users and received more than nine million ‘likes’.
The day after that publication on TikTok, another more official one arrived on Instagram. That day Rosalía turned 28 and she wanted to celebrate it by shouting her love on her social network profile. “Libra and blessed,” she said along with an image in which she showed her domestic intimacy with the Puerto Rican. He also shared a picture of her by her sea and in it he wrote: “Even if the sun goes down with you, the day never ends. Happy birthday baby.”
After that confession through the front door, they only needed to pose together in front of the media. And they did it a few weeks later, on the red carpet at the Los40 Music Awards in Palma de Mallorca. Rosalía, dressed in blue, presented Rauw with the award for best international Latino urban artist or group. They kissed on stage and he thanked her “beautiful girlfriend” for being his “muse”.
The couple became inseparable and constantly celebrated their love on social networks with images of travel and plans around the world, it was when they enjoyed a vacation in Mexico. But both had to focus on their work. On the one hand, Rosalía launched Motomami and then began the Motomami World Tour, and later, Rauw Alejandro did the same with his album Saturno and the Saturno World Tour.
In the summer of 2022, their collaborations were already in the studio, the singer revealed, but their publication was made to wait several more months. That summer rumors of a supposed engagement also began due to an image in which Rosalía held a small glass of liquor with a hand in which a diamond shone on her ring finger.
“Thanks to the love of my life. Baby, I love you,” was the declaration of love that she dedicated to him at the 2022 Latin Grammys, again in Las Vegas, held in November. To end that successful year, they went on a trip to Japan and a few months later, in March 2023, when the couple seemed one of the most solid on the music scene, they announced their collaboration and engagement.
Rosalía received an engagement ring from her boyfriend, Rauw Alejandro, at the end of the video for the song Beso, which both released as part of the joint EP R?, a scene with which the Spanish and Puerto Rican revolutionized their followers in networks. In the image, Rosalía was seen crying while she showed her ring and said: “Oh, my God! And all the mascara here runs!” In those songs the couple launched phases of love and promises of the future.
Everything indicated that the couple was planning their wedding, but as People has announced, that would be a thing of the past. Both Rosalía and Rauw Alejandro have tattooed each other’s name during the time they have been together. Rosalía has the initials “RR” on the sole of her foot and Rauw Alejandro has “Rosalía” tattooed in capital letters above her navel.
On July 16, Rosalía posted a carousel of photos on Instagram with the caption: “Dias d todo (sic)” and in one of the photos she came out with teary eyes, something that some have taken as a premonition of the end of her relationship with Rauw Alejandro.
