Christian Brothers Academy Dominates Champions Week
Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) in Albany, NY, is gearing up for another exciting football season as they celebrate Champions Week. The team, fresh off a three-peat in Section 2, is looking to continue their winning streak under the leadership of head coach Bob Burns.
Under Burns’ guidance, the CBA football program has established itself as a dominant force in Class AA. With three consecutive section titles to their name, the Brothers show no signs of slowing down. Coach Burns is confident in his team’s abilities, stating, “Top to bottom, our roster is as strong as any team I’ve had here.”
A Culture of Excellence

With 13 seniors returning to the squad, the Brothers have a wealth of experience and talent to rely on. Our older players set the tone and uphold the expectations for every position and unit.”
Offensive Firepower
On the offensive side of the ball, CBA boasts seven returning starters, including quarterback Archie Jones. Stepping into the role previously held by his brother, Donald Jones, Archie brings valuable experience to the position. Coach Burns praises Archie’s development, highlighting his growth during last season’s playoff run. Archie himself acknowledges the impact of learning from his older brother, stating, “His leadership and guidance have been invaluable to me. I’ve learned not just how to play the game, but also how to lead by example.”
Defensive Dominance
The Brothers’ defense is equally formidable, with nine starters returning to the lineup. Senior linebacker Jake Marra anchors the unit, setting high expectations for their performance. Coach Burns is confident in his defensive squad, noting their depth and experience. Marra echoes the team’s goal of winning a state championship, emphasizing the team’s determination to succeed.
