This Monday, starting at 10:00 p.m., one of the most notable television contests in Spain returns, and the musical format par excellence: Operación Triunfo. Under a new visual identity and platform, Amazon Prime Video will host the 18 contestants who have passed the extensive casting process, with up to four elimination phases. The program’s regular team and its new presenter will meet there: Chenoa.
The Mallorcan singer recently spoke with El Español to reveal all the details of this new installment, awaiting the premiere today, Monday. One of the questions she ended up asking was about the differences between the new academy and the one she had to set foot in in 2001, when she entered as a contestant in the first installment on Spanish Television. Her response has been striking, highlighting the inclusion of several appliances in the place.
“I am very basic, the thing about the washing machine has had a huge impact on me. I’ll leave it there, because I came in and said: ‘Excuse me, is this a washing machine?’ and he says ‘Yes, and a dryer’ and I say ‘Oh, sorry, we have a washing machine and dryer.’ That has impacted me a lot,” confessed the host of the galas, ensuring that she likes to carry out day-to-day tasks, since it allows her to touch her feet on the ground and temporarily disconnect.
“I am a lady of my house, I iron, I like all those things because that moment connects me to the ground and I relax,” she detailed. Returning to the comparison between the current academy and the one in 2001, Chenoa explained to the press that there was no washing machine or dryer. “We went straight to classes, and I didn’t have that daily moment to be able to lower my mental pulse a little,” she added, comparing it to the current trend of practicing crochet.
The artist highlighted the 22 years that have passed since the first edition to continue comparing the original academy with the current one, appearing very surprised that the new one had natural plants and even a terrace. However, she continued to highlight concentration spaces as her favorite place. Some points that she knows as the “box”, and that she used to study and stay out of the way, before the highlights of the day.
Days before, in the official presentation, Chenoa also provided details about what she will be like as a gala host: “I have a criterion chosen with direction. What I try to do is not posturing too much, it doesn’t work for me nor is it something I can maintain over time. I am not a typical presenter, I have a lot of empathy with what they are feeling and I will not be able to help but be totally excited with what I will be seeing and hearing.”
