The first edition of Operación Triunfo was unique and its contestants became part of television history. They achieved what, at that time, seemed impossible: uniting the audience thanks to an anthem, music.

Since then, we have seen the triumphs grow and triumph and, now, when its 2023 edition arrives, viewers are excited to see how one of those contestants, now converted into a presenter of the format, has a nice memory of those who are no longer here. Chenoa, one of the favorites of that first edition, made those present cry this Monday with some beautiful words dedicated to Álex Casademunt, who died in March 2021.

The 8th of 0T 2023 gala featured this Monday a performance by Martin and Chiara performing Escriurem, a song composed and performed by the former triumph Miki Núñez, with a version in Catalan and Basque. After overcoming the challenge, which was not easy at all, Chenoa invited the Catalan to join them on the sofa and, then, emotion filled the set.

Because this song was written by Miki during his participation in OT 2018 and he dedicated it to his editing colleagues. It is another anthem, as it was at the time My music is your voice. “The teachers are crying, I’m crying, the public is crying…” Chenoa admitted very emotionally.

“It is an OT anthem,” also said Noemí Galera, director of the Academy. “I can assure you that it is a song that those of us from OT 1 also recognize as ours for those who are no longer here,” said Chenoa.

“And, with your permission,” the presenter continued, “I am going to dedicate it to Álex Casademunt.” A mention that becomes even more relevant and emotional because next March will mark three years since his death in a traffic accident.

In fact, such is the love of the triumphants for Casademunt, that Chenoa included one of his songs in his wedding repertoire. Because Catalan will always be part of Operación Triunfo and what happened last night on the set is just one more example of what this musical format means for its contestants.
