Cayetano Rivera has ended up with a broken rib after throwing himself into the ring to help the Peruvian bullfighter Andrés Roca Rey, who suffered two chilling blows on Tuesday in the Santander bullring, when he tried to remove his partner with a clean body, then at the mercy of the sixth bull of Antonio Bañuelos.

It all happened when the Andalusian right-hander jumped into the ring for the second time to remove Roca Rey, managing to divert the bull’s attention to his partner who remained defenseless against the barrier.

However, Rivera could not avoid that, when he stumbled, the same bull would tie him up and also flip him very spectacularly. The result, minor for what it could have been: a fractured rib on the right side.

Roca Rey wanted to thank the Andalusian bullfighter for his performance, which some consider heroic. He has published an affectionate message for Cayetano on his social networks, “because yesterday you showed your camaraderie and your contempt for life to save mine!”

For his part, the South American right-hander suffered multiple injuries to his left knee, neck and face. After the incident in the Santander bullring, he was transferred to Seville to undergo new studies to rule out a possible internal goring in the right thigh.
