Carmen Machi is one of the most recognized actresses of the last 25 years on the Spanish acting scene. What was initially an opportunity to work on television after an invitation from Luis San Narciso, ended up becoming a humorous legacy that many viewers still remember today: the character of Aída García, who first appeared in 7 Lives and then got its own spin-off with Aída.

This Tuesday, the Madrid-based performer came to the set of El Hormiguero, the Antena 3 nighttime program presented by Pablo Motos, to present her next film: We Treat Women Too Well, which opens in theaters on March 15. During the conversation, Machi had the opportunity to talk about her role in the filming and her vision on various topics, as well as tell about an unexpected paranormal experience.

It all happened in an apartment on Huertas streets in Madrid, which he shared with another person. The first time she spent the night there, she had the feeling that someone was touching her and she couldn’t sleep a wink. This situation repeated itself for several more days, until she had to ask to sleep with her roommate. It was then that he, convincing her to tell what was happening, explained those mysterious sensations to her.

The other tenant’s response revealed a very unpleasant incident: that same room had previously been used by up to three prostitutes, who were murdered on Santa María Street, parallel to Huertas. After this explanation, the uncomfortable touching was repeated until one crucial night, when Machi took matters into her own hands. Without feeling afraid, she stood up and told them to be quiet so they would let her sleep.

Immediately, several photographs hanging on the wall fell to the floor. However, that would be the last time they would bother her. As soon as that act of rebellion occurred, she stopped feeling her presence and no more paranormal moments occurred. In her own words, Machi had the feeling that they did not want to put fear into her body, but rather to express themselves as three spirits who had died in such a violent way.

The striking anecdote left Pablo Motos confused for several minutes, unable to process the actress’s words. However, both had the opportunity to leave a message for Íker Jiménez to analyze their case. Along the same lines, Machi also confessed to having the ability to see presences, notice people in rooms or those who are looking at her without seeing their faces directly.
