Carlos Sainz Jr. has experienced both sides of a coin in a matter of a week. Last week, the Madrid driver achieved a consolidated third place in the first grand prix of the Formula 1 season, held in Bahrain. However, this Friday, in the middle of the Saudi Arabia Grand Prix, the news broke that the Spaniard had to undergo emergency surgery due to appendicitis. After undergoing surgery, Carlos Sainz’s son returned to social networks this Saturday to announce that the intervention went well.

This operation is a real setback for the driver, who started the season on a very good foot last weekend. After taking to the track in the qualifying sessions on Thursday, the son of the four-time Dakar Rally champion had to abandon and give up his seat in Ferrari to the British Oliver Bearman. This Saturday, the 29-year-old reappeared on social media with an ingenious publication.

Through his official Instagram account the Spaniard could be seen in a hospital bed, after leaving the operating room. Despite his situation, young Sainz appears with a good face and with the company of his father, Carlos Sainz, next to his bed. “Sainz (2) – (0) Appendicitis. Thank you all for the messages in the last 24 hours. I have truly felt your support,” the young man wrote in the caption, ensuring that everything has gone well.

The publication is most ingenious, since it recreates an image taken some time ago and that can also be seen in the publication. In the first image you can see the young pilot accompanied by his father, who is talking on the phone. In the next photo, taken a long time before, his father appears in bed, while his father is the one speaking on the phone. This suggests that father and son have had to undergo appendicitis surgery during their lives.

The publication already has nearly two million likes and countless supportive comments. “We love you genius. Many kisses to the whole family,” wrote Fernando Verdasco, Ana Boyer’s husband. “Get well soon, friend!” wrote George Russell, Formula 1 driver for Mercedes. “Two rocks!” commented pilot Laia Sanz. “Get better, bastard!” wrote Checo Pérez, another of Sainz’s biggest rivals on the track.

In his Instagram stories, the pilot tried to reassure all his followers. “I had to undergo a mild operation and today I feel much better,” he began writing. “Thank you all for your beautiful messages and to all those who have taken care of me these days in Saudi, especially the Hospital of the Armed Forces of King Fahad. THANK YOU,” commented Carlos.

This news has been a real blow for the driver, who just starting the championship has already encountered the first stone in the road. Despite this, the driver is expected to return to the grid for the Australian Grand Prix, which will take place between March 22 and 24 in Melbourne. We will have to wait to know what finally happens.
