In Carlo Zanuso’s family home there were always design objects. He grew up surrounded by small artistic works capable of reflecting stories. Like great collectors, seekers of beauty, the founder of Pomandère has accumulated during his life works and objects that reflect the sensitivity transmitted by his collections.

The Zanuso family dedicated itself to the production of custom shirts in Italy for more than 40 years. And, although Carlo made the decision to study Economics and Commerce in Milan, at the famous Catholic University, he soon realized that his future was not between numbers and spreadsheets. Like a call of destiny, he followed his true instinct and took up the family tradition that had always been so present during the period of his childhood.

“Pomandère was born from the concern to give new life to my parents’ legacy,” he explains. A brand that was founded in 2008 and that, 15 years later, distributes throughout Europe, Australia and America, and in February 2024 it will open the first single-brand boutique in Paris. Zanuso assures that the secret of Pomandère’s success is in “consistency and continuity” and that his economic training has been the best compass to guide his creativity.

When Carlo Zanuso arrives at his workshop every morning, he imagines a contemporary, romantic woman with a strong and determined personality. “I like the idea of ??mixing feminine and masculine spirits in the same collection.” And he adds: “The most identifying characteristic of any Pomandère garment is that it is part of a timeless collection, designed to fit and last in a woman’s wardrobe for a long time.”

That durability that Zanuso highlights is due to the ability to choose simple silhouettes and knowing how to enrich them with artisanal details so that no piece becomes banal. Proof of this is the latest collection of the Italian brand, called Atlantica, which corresponds to the autumn-winter 2023 season. A line that is inspired by a limitless territory soaked by the waters of the homonymous ocean and buffeted by the winds of the north of Europe. The designer highlights “the rigor and cleanliness of the patterns and colors” that give the collection a refined and contemporary appearance.

Atlantica here becomes a woman’s proper name: powerful with nature, where she has found her home, indomitable, solitary, silent but welcoming. “The color palette is also inspired by evocative Nordic landscapes. The blue tones, intense like the deep ocean waters; the green ones represent the winter vegetation, and the gray ones represent the frozen cliffs.” Finally, the colors of the sunset come together in a third chromatic group, featuring copper and orange, pink and cyclamen, blended with natural tones.”

From the first sketch to marketing, Zanuso meticulously follows the development of the garments. He is his company: the creative soul, but also pragmatic, at the end of the day. Around him, craftsmanship, confidence in fabrics and paper patterns.

Inside, an innate taste and senses trained to recognize trends and styles. It is curious to see how these skills are transferred to all the scenarios that build your personal life: from the company and your home, to your lifestyle. A lover of nature and consistent with her creed, the bicycle is her favorite means of transportation.

In terms of sustainability, Pomandère produces all its garments in Italy and synthetics are excluded in the fabric selection process. “In this winter collection, the capsule presents two mineral pigments that come 100% from nature: clay and earth tones. A dyeing that uses low temperatures to reduce the energy impact and water consumption,” he concludes.
