There is no talk about anything else in our country other than the series that Netflix has released about the terrible murder of Asunta Basterra Porto: The Asunta Case. In 2013, the adoptive parents of the girl of Chinese origin decided to end her life and, although they never acknowledged responsibility for the events, they were sentenced to 18 years in prison.
The case shocked Spanish society, since the evidence revealed that the parents had been giving lorazepam to the girl for a long time, who had appeared dizzy and extremely tired on previous occasions: at school, in music classes, etc.
The series, starring Candela Peña and Tristán Ulloa, presents the crime from within and portrays the personality of the two convicted of the girl’s death. In addition to the great performance of the protagonists, we find a brilliant cast completed by Javier Gutiérrez, Raúl Arévalo, María León, Alicia Borrachero, Carlos Blanco, and Francesc Orella, among others.
Although the criticism has been very good in general and the project has been placed as the most viewed on the platform in our country, social networks have surrendered to the sublime performance of Candela Peña.
The actress has shown that she has a great record and that she took the role she was given very seriously, since Porto was a difficult woman to interpret due to her contradictions, her mannerisms and her illness.
In an interview he gave with Tristán Ulloa, Peña acknowledged that it is one of the biggest challenges he has faced throughout his life and commented that he had a very bad time at the beginning of filming: ” The first day they put the wig on me I started vomiting.”
As Ulloa has confirmed, he spent a long time holding his co-star’s forehead because he couldn’t stop vomiting: ”The exorcist’s girl was right here next to him.” ”But we were there for hours, eh?” said the actress.
Candela Peña explained in the same conversation that they experienced a very peculiar situation. As she did not improve, they had to call an ambulance, it so happened that the nurse who came in said vehicle had been Rosario Porto’s classmate.
”When I entered and that woman saw me…” he explained, implying that the woman was very scared because she thought she was seeing Asunta’s mother. It should be noted that the scare was so great because Porto committed suicide in his cell in 2020.
