The entire world was completely shocked when the health problems that Bruce Willis is suffering came to light, and which have forced him to retire permanently. The actor was diagnosed with aphasia, a disease that causes the loss of the ability to express oneself and understand language, both in writing and orally.

Shortly after, everything got worse when frontotemporal dementia (FTD) was added. From the first moment, the artist has been supported by his family, who did not want to leave him alone even in his single moment. And if there is someone who has been especially present, it is his wife, Emma Heming, who has left everything to dedicate herself body and soul to him.

In order to deal with the difficult process, the actor’s wife decided to capture everything she was experiencing in a book that will be published in 2025. Although it does not yet have a title, Heming wanted to advance some important points about this manuscript that will show her experience as a caregiver for her husband.

With this, it aims to offer a guide to all those who go through a similar situation. “For many people, the first point of contact about this disease is at their doctor’s office,” he said in an interview with the Sunday Paper.

Among other things, he believes that it is important how the doctor transmits information to the patient or the environment: “Having resources and information readily available is imperative.” And he assured that in his case it was not like that at first. “We left that office with almost no resources or support and with a diagnosis that I could barely pronounce,” he revealed.

Although at first the diagnosis was somewhat devastating both for her and for the rest of her environment, she affirms that little by little she is having “a lot more hope.” Now, she fully understands what this disease entails and has received support from the entire community.

“I am hopeful that I have found a new purpose, certainly one that I would never have sought: to use the spotlight to help and empower others,” Heming said, referring to his future book. If there is something that is helping you through this process, it is thinking that you will be able to help new caregivers who find themselves helpless.

Although it is sad news for the family and for the world of cinema, which has had to say goodbye to one of its most recognized actors from public life, this has been a way of putting this disease on the map.
