Popular San Antonio radio personality Russell Rush, who has spooked and entertained locals for years with his signature Halloween favorite, “Haunted Tour,” now dons another hat: programming boss.

According to an iHeartMedia announcement, Rush has been promoted to program director for Mix 96.1, San Antonio’s hit music station.

He will continue to serve as weekday afternoon on-air personality for the station, a press release states, but now also will be responsible for the day-to-day programming operations of Mix 96.1.

“Eleven years ago when I came to San Antonio, I had no idea what I was getting myself into,” Rush wrote in a Facebook message. “Now, I can’t imagine being anywhere else! So it’s very exciting to be able to grow my career in the city I love at the station I love.”

It’s hard to imagine anyone more passionate about this station and its listeners!”

“I am beyond excited for the opportunity to grow my career with iHeartMedia in San Antonio,”  Rush stated in the release. “This is such a vibrant and amazing city that deserves the best radio we can deliver and I look forward to continuing Mix 96.1’s dominance.”
