Last week, Jorge Javier Vázquez received the worst news: his new program, Chinese Tales, was struck down by Mediaset just three weeks after its premiere. The reason, his low audience; But competing against late-night prime-time heavyweights like El Hormiguero by Pablo Motos (Antena 3), First Dates with Carlos Sobera (Cuatro) or El Intermedio by El Gran Wyoming (LaSexta) was not an easy task.

A cancellation that has led to concern about the mood of the presenter, who for months has not been at his best in terms of his mental health. However, Belén Esteban, his partner and friend, assures that Jorge Javier is left “for a while.”

The one who was one of the star collaborators of Mediaset attended the presentation of the new book by the coach and writer Cristina Soria, The book that will save your partner; which brought together other colleagues from Sálvame, such as Gema López or Víctor Sandoval. The collaborator gave a statement to Pronto magazine, confirming that she had spoken with him recently.

“I don’t tell what I talk about with my friends, but for me Jorge Javier is the best presenter there has ever been,” said Belén, when asked how the presenter was feeling after the cancellation of his program.

What’s more, Paracuellos went further, suggesting that perhaps the Fuencarral group was not doing things well regarding the opportunities they would be giving to the Badalona group. Assuring that “there is Jorge for a while,” the former collaborator stated: “I think they have a very wasted product.”

His statements join those given by some of those who have been most critical of the chain in recent times. Baldomero Toscano, who was programming director at Mediaset Spain, declared a few days ago in an interesting interview with Algo Pasa TV that the presenter was a “brilliant” and “hard-working” guy who does not deserve the treatment he received.

“In my time he has presented a lot of programs, not only the daily Sálvame, which required presence for four hours a day on TV,” he explained, “It has been well paid, because it has been very well paid […] He is a brilliant guy, he has speech, he is funny, smart, fast… For television and the media, all of these are priceless values,” stated the former manager.

For Toscano, those values ??have made him who he is. “For many years he has been number one. He is hungry and on television, as in any human activity, being hungry, in the good sense of the word, is a driving force.”
