Bella Hadid has apologized for her silence in recent weeks. The model, whose father was born in Nazareth, had not commented on the attacks of October 7 and the escalation of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, although it had been known from those around her that the whole family was not going through a good time while they received death threats. .
In a new post on her Instagram, the daughter of real estate developer Mohamed Hadid has described these last few weeks as “horrible,” “but I can no longer be silenced. Fear is not an option. The people and children of Palestine, especially in Gaza, they cannot afford our silence. We are not the brave ones, they are.”
The model, in her staunch defense of the Palestinian people, has condemned the terrorist attacks: “Regardless of the history of my country, I condemn terrorist attacks against civilians, anywhere in the world. Harming women and children and inflicting terror does not nor should it do any good to the movement for a free Palestine.” In this sense, she added that “this applies to both the Israeli and Palestinian people.”
He also wanted to remember his family’s history and explained how they have lived all these years without being able to return to their ancestral home. “My father was born in Nazareth in the year of the Nakba (the expulsion of 750,000 Palestinians in 1948). Nine days after coming into the world, he, in the arms of his mother and together with his family, were expelled from their home in Palestine , becoming refugees and far from the place they once called home. My grandparents were never allowed to return.”
Since then, he says that they have been “witnesses for 75 years” of the “brutal invasions of occupation forces”, “destruction of entire communities”, “evictions of families from their homes”, “cold-blooded murders”, which have caused “unimaginable damage.”
He has also criticized the “humanitarian crisis in Gaza that must be addressed. Families need access to water and food.” Finally, the model has defended “humanity, peace and security” and has declared that “religions are peace and governments are corrupt.”
