Juan Antonio Bayona has been, without a doubt, the great protagonist of the Goya gala with The Snow Society, a film that almost made the house, winning twelve of the thirteen awards for which it was nominated. It is not surprising that the filmmaker at the end of the night was euphoric and as a result of his enthusiasm came one of the most commented moments on social networks, the passionate kiss he gave to his companion when they proclaimed his name as Best Director.
Bayona, who usually stands out for his discretion when it comes to his personal life, gave a couple of excited kisses to the person who is supposed to be his partner and whom he did not mention in his speech when picking up the bobblehead. However, she did pose with him on the red carpet and was also present in the film’s team photos.
The Barcelona native, who already had three Goyas for The Orphanage, The Impossible and A Monster Comes to See Me, dedicated the award “to the public” and also had a few words for his parents and made a special mention of his mother, who was recently hospitalized.
The filmmaker’s unexpected kiss has become one of the most applauded anecdotes of the Spanish cinema night on the networks. “Great moment of the night” or “Bayona giving her boyfriend a kiss before the award, I died of love”, are some of the comments that can be read in X.
In addition to Best Director, The Snow Society has won the Goya for Best Film in addition to the awards for Original Music, Costume Design, Adapted Screenplay, Special Effects, Sound or Best Film in addition to other technical categories.
