During the coldest months of the year we barely pay attention to our feet, which are usually covered by thick socks and closed shoes. However, in spring and summer, with the arrival of heat, this part of our body takes on greater prominence. In order to alleviate the high temperatures, we usually wear them uncovered with footwear such as flip flops and sandals. In addition, we also show them when we go to bathing areas such as the pool or the beach.

It is then when we want our feet to look their best version. For example, we try to combat conditions like corns or bunions, we try to avoid cracked heels, and we get pedicures to leave them flawless. However, despite our efforts, during the summer season it is common for our feet to flake and peel.

There are several possible reasons why your feet are peeling with the arrival of summer. It can be due to friction with shoes without socks, as well as excessive sweating or lack of hydration. On the other hand, radiation from the sun or contact with hot surfaces such as beach sand or pool tiles can burn this delicate skin.

Other reasons may be allergic conditions or fungal infections, such as athlete’s foot. In these cases, the peeling is usually accompanied by rashes, irritation, itching or pain, and sometimes a bad smell. If any of these circumstances occur, it is best that you go to the doctor or a podiatrist.
