This past Thursday afternoon, Valencia and half of Spain came to a standstill due to a chilling incident. Around five in the afternoon, a fire broke out in a ten-story building on Mestre Rodrigo Avenue, in the Campanar neighborhood. The presence of polyurethane on the façade and the strong gusts of wind spread the fire at dizzying speed, consuming the block in just one hour.

The current balance is nine fatalities and countless material damage and property damage to residents, in addition to the distressing images of the rescues by the fire department. A fact that significantly modified the television schedule and in which a large part of Spanish society has focused. Among the reactions, many belonging to well-known personalities in front of all the screens.

“What a shocking fire today in Valencia. All my support to those affected, and the great work that the health, emergency and extinction teams continue to do at this time. My thoughts and my heart go out to the victims of the terrible fire in Valencia. All the strength in the world in these hard moments,” wrote the actor from Malaga in Antonio Banderas, in two different publications through his Instagram profile.

“2 14-story buildings full of life, memories, people, animals… What great pain to think about the victims and their families. Much encouragement to those who are starting from scratch and thanks to the fire department for taking care of us and risking your precious life. You are heroes”, published the Madrid influencer María Pombo from Milan Fashion Week. “What a great tragedy. “All my support for Valencia,” added Eugenia Martínez de Irujo.

“The heart in a fist. All the courage and strength in the world to cope with this terrible situation to the family and friends of the victims… the uncertainty of the missing… the grief of the neighbors who have lost everything… and to the entire city of Valencia, which is in mourning “, wrote the Valencian presenter Nuria Roca, who was present this past Thursday night at El Hormiguero, where Pablo Motos contributed a reflection on what happened.

“These kinds of things underline once again that life changes in a second. We are very fragile. We must celebrate every second of our existence and love each other more,” said the Requena presenter, drawing applause from the audience present on the Atresmedia set in San Sebastián de los Reyes. Some words that have been added to those of many more personalities during the last hours.
