Anne Hathaway opens up about her youth and the time she felt 'chronically stressed'

Anne Hathaway is one of the most successful actresses in the world. The interpreter of Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada achieved fame at an early age, and is now one of the most prominent faces in Hollywood. That’s why each of her public reappearances generates headlines. The actress, 41, was part of the debut episode of New York Magazine’s The Interview podcast. In this interview, she opened up about her youth, a time in which she was “chronically stressed.”

The One Day singer opened up about experiencing constant stress when she was younger, as well as taking life for granted. “As a young woman who previously suffered from chronic stress, I remember one day thinking, ‘You’re taking this for granted. You’re taking your life for granted,'” she said during the interview. “‘You have no idea. Something could fall from the sky and the lights would go out,'” she told herself.

Now, years later, the actress admits that she returns to those moments when she feels like she could experience stress again. “So when I see the old instincts coming up, I just tell myself, ‘You’re not going to die stressed,'” she revealed on the podcast. The actress claimed in the interview that she doesn’t have an answer as to why she was so stressed, but she said it could be because she “still didn’t know how to breathe.”

“I feel too exposed to talk about the alienation I felt from my body, but there was a lot of somatic stress there,” he revealed, about how he felt at the time. On the other hand, the Hollywood star assured that she faced some uncomfortable experiences when she began her journey as a professional actress.

Earlier this month, Hathaway explained to V Magazine that in the past she was asked to kiss 10 men for a chemistry test. “They told me: ‘Today 10 guys come and you’re chosen. Aren’t you excited to kiss all of them?'” the actress explained. “And I thought, ‘Is there something wrong with me?’ Because I wasn’t excited. I thought it sounded gross,” she recounted.

Hathaway said in the interview that she was not interested in doing the job, but explained that she accepted the test because she did not want to be labeled as “difficult.” “It wasn’t a power play, no one was trying to be bad or hurt me,” the Oscar winner said then. “It was just a very different time and now we know better,” she said.
