Andor’s Season 2 writers are revealed

Andor Season 2 has wrapped filming, and thanks to a reveal, we know who will be writing the final episodes of the prequel series to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. The four writers who will write the final 12 episodes of the series are listed on the Writers Guild of America West of WGA’s website. Episodes 1-3 will be written by series creator and showrunner Tony Gilroy. This is a mirror to Season 1, where Gilroy also tackled the opening arc of the series. However, the difference between the two seasons is Gilroy tackled the last two episodes of Season 1, “Daughter of Ferrix” and “Rix Road.” For Season 2, Gilroy is only doing episodes 1-3.

Beau Willimon will tackle the second arc, or episodes 4-6. This arc will surely be highly anticipated, as Willimon wrote the critically acclaimed prison arc in Season 1, which garnered him an Emmy Award nomination. It will be wonderful to see more of his Star Wars work as he will also join James Mangold on the upcoming Dawn of the Jedi film as a co-writer.

The third arc of the season, episodes 7-9, will be written by Tony’s brother, Dan Gilroy. The siblings are constant collaborators as seen in Season 1 as Dan Gilroy wrote the Aldhani arc. Dan is also an executive producer on the series as a whole. The biggest difference between Season 2 is the fourth and final writer, who is new to the show. Tom Bissell is penning the final episodes of Andor, which are episodes 10-12. This will be his first venture into a galaxy far, far away. His other works include the Uncharted franchise, The Disaster Artist, and he’s the creator of The Mosquito Coast. Andor Season 2 will bring the critically acclaimed series to a close and is poised to drop sometime in 2025 on Disney+.

It’s been confirmed that each arc will have a time jump covering the final years of Cassian Andor’s life before leading into the events of Rogue One. Andor Season 1 is now streaming on Disney+.
