Ana Terradillos “categorically” rejects Ione Belarra's accusations against Ana Rosa Quintana: “Let's be serious”

It has been a long time since a Plenary Session of the Congress of Deputies has generated so many reactions beyond the usual coverage. Last Wednesday, May 22, the announcement of the recognition of Palestine as a state by Spain in the coming days took place, among other things, as revealed by Pedro Sánchez. But if there is something that has shaken everything, it has been the words of Ione Belarra.

The former Minister of Social Rights and Agenda 2030 used the loudspeaker provided by being in the speakers’ gallery of Congress to attack several journalists and ask for “transparency.” Something that has not taken long to generate reactions of all kinds.

Among her words, the general secretary of Podemos proposed a law that would show “the economic and political interests behind the lies that Ana Rosa Quintana, Pablo Motos or Susanna Griso tell every day.” “We want to know the economic interests behind those journalists who lie every day from large television sets about political forces, including mine. That also includes Mr. Antonio García Ferreras,” she added.

Given this, Ana Terradillos has used her presence in La Mirada Crítica to come out in defense of her colleagues. “In this specific case he points to four journalists, I specifically know two very well. And I have to say that I categorically reject the accusations that are launched from the seat of national sovereignty against my colleagues today, yesterday and tomorrow,” she began to express.

A few words from Belarra, which the journalist claims cannot be allowed and has attacked the president of Congress for not saying anything. “There are none of the four journalists who are involved in any case of corruption, so, if the insults are insults to those around certain people, they are also insults to those around me, to the people in the media,” has added.

After this, he asked that journalists be allowed to work “freely”, since if there is a problem “with crimes”, that is what the penal code is for: “Let’s be serious.” With this, it is clear that Terradillos has not taken Belarra’s words well at all.

Some statements that are in line with the forceful response of Ana Rosa Quintana herself, who did not want to remain silent on her TardeAR program. “It cannot be that a representative of Congress goes against the foundations of democracy that is based on the institutions that represent it,” she expressed forcefully.

“It is clear that for Armengol the press is not a democratic institution and he assumes that journalists who practice freedom of expression must be tied down, citing their names and surnames,” he added. Likewise, he asked the deputy to remove “her mud machine” from the Congress of Deputies. A dispute that seems to be going on for a long time.
