Ana Peleteiro has it all: an enviable career, the love of Benjamín Campaoré – whom she will marry on September 23 – and her little Lúa, who is now four months old. Success in all aspects of her life, but getting to this point hasn’t exactly been easy.

The sacrifice that it has cost her personally is known, but for the first time, the Olympian is honest about her most personal side, and how an ex-boyfriend she had controlled her so much that he even forced her to stop following certain people on social networks.

The athlete speaks openly in an interview with Yo Dona about a first meeting that Campaoré had back in 2016, where they were already intimate, but both realized that it was not the time to start a relationship. She tried to follow him on social networks, but she gave up, because her ex-partner “had forced her to stop doing it”, as with all her athletic partners. Luckily, years later they would meet again, and ironically, thanks to the magic of Instagram.

They met again at the Tokyo Olympics, but Peleteiro had a hard time, because Campaoré “made eyes at him” in front of his ex-partner, a very controlling person. “Horrible. We didn’t talk. Just exchanged glances. I was intoxicated by my relationship and I wasn’t able to get out of that wheel,” admits the athlete. However, fate wanted them to get back together, and both managed to get out of those relationships. They followed each other on Instagram, they “liked” some photos and, as Peleteiro confesses, she was single for 15 days.

Now, the two try to adjust to their new life, with their four girls at home -Campaoré is the father of three girls: Cassandra, Olympia and Iris, aged 9, 5 and 4; in addition to little Lúa- and with her mind set on the fight for the medals of the next World Championships in athletics, something that Peleteiro initially thought was impossible after her complicated delivery by caesarean section last December.

And why not, increase the family. “Our main objective is our family. And to look for another baby in five years, to see if she cheated on him,” the athlete ends, amused.
