Ana Blanco has become one of the most mentioned names in recent weeks. The journalist from Televisión Española was a prominent protagonist in the world of television upon learning of her supposed retirement, which would take effect in November when she turned 63. However, the public channel stepped forward to deny the published information, assuring that the communicator would continue working in the corporation.
Now her fate is known, after having appeared on the screen only twice since she left the La 1 newscast in 2022. Blanco will be in charge of presenting the new season of Informe Semanal, a fact that marks her return to the format fourteen years later. One of the last appearances by the Bilbao woman on RTVE was during the 50th anniversary of the program, which she will now direct starting next September.
El Confidencial Digital has been in charge of uncovering the news, highlighting Blanco’s stage at the head of the format between 2007 and 2009, while he held a rotating position as head of the newscast. As sources from the public entity have explained to the outlet, the journalist was one of the faces that Televisión Española wanted to put back on the screen, and for several months different possibilities were being considered to make it possible.
One of these options was the possible return of I have a question for you, the space that brings together political leaders and citizens so that they can answer questions before public opinion. However, the current political climate caused by the elections and the uncertainty have prevented this from being possible. Thus, Blanco would occupy the position left by Martín Barreiro and Marisa Rodríguez Palop as the main presenters of the long-running program.
Another new space that will carry the journalist’s signature is Cuando todo cambia, a look at the most relevant events of the last thirty years in Spain. “Ana Blanco will guide us, in first person, through those historical events and will deal with each issue with the help of experts, anonymous people and well-known faces, with whom she will reflect on the great axes of our country’s society”, explained the Secretary General from RTVE Alfonso Morales.
“Ana Blanco, a professional of recognized prestige and trajectory of this house, has given voice in our newscasts to most of the outstanding news of the last three decades, which adds great value to the format and makes it unique”, stressed the person in charge, in addition to anticipating various topics that will gain prominence in this new format, such as tourism, fame, work, food or housing.
