The Spanish media were completely devoted to the election day of July 23, with the main television channels organizing a wide display of information for the decisive moment that would determine the political future of the country. Thus, from early in the morning, all the public channels broadcast programs in which they explained everything that happened, with a special at night on La 1, 23J. Up to you.
At 8:00 p.m., RTVE made public its first poll, carried out by Sigma Dos, with the estimate of the results of election day. Some results that were discussed long and hard, especially at night, presented by Carlos Franganillo and Alejandra Herranz, who had a panel discussion that included Lucía Méndez, Esther Palomera, Ainhoa ??Martínez, Daniel Basteiro, Alejandro Requeijo and Raquel Ejerique; in addition to the political scientists Cristina Monge and Paco Camas.
All of them closely followed the results of the scrutiny, and having reached just over 76%, Franganillo announced a pause that seems to have come like rain in May for the journalist Esther Palomera, who was played a trick on by her open microphone.
Franganillo gave way to the pause, announcing that they would continue with their analysis in the television special, when a “whoops, let’s go smoke” was heard.
A sentiment that obviously some viewers who commented on the program on social networks echoed on Twitter, with some showing solidarity and others mocking the desire to escape from Palomera after so many hours at the discussion table.
Palomera has become one of the leading journalists in these General Elections. Only a few days ago she made headlines again after refusing to participate in the peculiar cheer of Ana Rosa Quintana. A moment to say the least revealing, in which the majority of progressive commentators refused to give their forecasts, while the most conservative -including the presenter, who was overwhelmed with joy- seemed enthusiastic to present theirs, even if not one was right.
