The mayor of Madrid, José Luis Martínez-Almeida, and Teresa Urquijo and Moreno will pass through the altar in 2024. The couple, who surprised last June by attending the San Isidro Fair together in the Plaza de las Ventas, is very discreet and they want to live their love in privacy, but, as Beatriz Cortázar reported this Monday on the radio program It’s Federico’s Morning, they will get married next year in Navalagamella.
As stated in the program, the ceremony and celebration will take place at the Los Molinillos estate, located in Navalagamella, Community of Madrid. Los Molinillos is a farm owned by her family. More specifically, it belongs to Carmen Fernández de Araoz Marañón, known as Piru Urquijo, who is the granddaughter of the doctor Gregorio Marañón and great-aunt of Sofía Palazuelo, Duchess of Huéscar.
Teresa Urquijo y Moreno, who turns 27 this week—Almeida turned 48 in April—is the daughter of Lucas Urquijo Fernández de Araoz and Beatriz Moreno y de Borbón. Her father is a man known in the business world for having been communications director of the pharmaceutical company Roche Farma, and is the great-grandson of the doctor, scientist and writer Gregorio Marañón. Her mother, Beatriz Moreno y de Borbón, is the daughter of Íñigo Moreno Arteaga, Marquis of Laserna, and Teresa de Borbón-Dos Sicilias y Borbón-Parma, first cousin of King Juan Carlos.
Teresa Urquijo completed a double degree in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Pontificia Comillas ICAI-ICADE, one of the most prestigious in the capital. She has worked as an analyst at JP Morgan and currently has a job in the financial department of the company Merlin Properties, specifically, as an analyst. She previously worked in international companies in Manila, London and Mexico City. Furthermore, her brother, Juan Urquijo, was linked to Victoria Federica de Marichalar, but everything remained rumors.
Just a few days ago, the mayor was asked if he had wedding plans during his speech on the La Regard Crítica program. Then Almeida blushed and responded: “I’m getting nervous, I’m taking my pulse right now with my finger on my neck… It’s still a bit premature,” he said.
Since their presentation at the San Isidro Fair in the Plaza de las Ventas, when they have been dating for six months, the couple has plans for their life together. They assure that neither of them wanted to take a wrong step in this regard, being both so discreet. From the program they affirm that it is possible that Almeida denies this information, since the official marriage proposal has not yet been held, but they also state that his information is unequivocal.
