Arantxa Sánchez Vicario is making all the headlines, and not because of her tennis career. The athlete testified last Tuesday in the Criminal Court No. 25 of Barcelona for an alleged crime of taking property. Together with her husband, Josep Santacana, the former tennis player faces a request for four years in prison and six million euros.

On the first day of the trial, Sánchez Vicario tried to convince the judge that any act he had committed had been influenced and directed by Santacana. “He decided to act like this; he didn’t want to pay. And yes, it was he who emptied the accounts so as not to pay the Bank of Luxembourg,” he assured. Given this, there have been many television collaborators who have wanted to comment on the matter, among them, Alessandro Lequio.

The social club of the Let’s see program wanted to address the former tennis player’s words in the trial where everything is at stake. Given this, Alessandro Lequio has been very clear: “Saying that she does not know or understand about money is the most rancid machismo and hiding behind her status as a woman to present herself as stupid, no one believes it.”

But it seems that Lequio’s animosity with Arantxa Sánchez Vicario goes back much further. “A lady who publicly denounced her father for stealing practically all of her fortune, then she cannot say that she did not know anything. This is taking us for fools. But please come,” she wanted to make it clear.

After the collaborator’s words, Bibiana Fernández wanted to calm the waters a little, given her admiration for Sánchez Vicario’s role in tennis. But Alessandro Lequio has returned to the fray. “She is Arantxa Sánchez Vicario. She is a lady who has income and, above all, the ability to generate income, she cannot go crying and feeling sorry for the world,” he added.

Furthermore, he wanted to put on the table the sources of income that the athlete has after the titles she has won in her professional career: “Yesterday I found out that the Olympic medals are pensioned. We are not talking about a nobody.”

And the former tennis player was visibly emotional throughout the trial, crying on several occasions. Likewise, she wanted to make it clear that she was a dominated person. She told me that he was in charge because she had more knowledge of companies and societies. I dedicated myself and continued to dedicate myself to tennis. But I was wrong and that is why I am here,” she said.

“I admit that I was wrong and that I do not agree with what happened. “I am collaborating and I have already paid 1,900,000 euros to the BDL,” she added before the judge. Now we just have to wait for the trial to run its course and for the final resolution.
