Uncertainty continues around the state of health of Sergio Rico. The Paris Saint-Germain player has been admitted to the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville since May 28, due to a head injury suffered in the Huelva town of El Rocío. Since that accident on the back of a horse that the goalkeeper has evolved irregularly in recent weeks, and now the prognosis presents a tense calm.

The medical team that is treating the soccer player announced in a statement published yesterday that information would not be issued again until “significant changes” were made. This leaves the evolution of the player of the French champion stagnant, waiting for his state to present news worthy of elaboration. The goalkeeper “remains stable within the severity of his injuries in the ICU and under the effects of sedation, with close surveillance and monitoring.”

This news leaves his wife, Alba Silva, in an uncomfortable wait. The young journalist has been in charge of updating the media with additional details of Rico’s status since she was admitted. This morning, as she already maintains out of habit, she has spoken before the microphones of Europa Press to try to detail the evolution of her husband. “Everything is still a bit the same. I don’t have much news”, she has assured her without a very positive frame of mind.

Despite this setback, the goalkeeper’s wife maintains hope and tries to send him all the strength possible to get out of this situation. The journalist is trying to be as strong as she can, and cross her fingers that everything is a big scare. Silva has also recognized that these days are full of ups and downs and that she must be prepared for any type of change, be it positive or negative.

Sergio Rico’s accident generated several unknowns around the events, but with the passing of the days they have been solved until a clear reconstruction of what happened has been obtained. The goalkeeper traveled to Huelva from Strasbourg, where he had just won Ligue 1 with PSG, to take part in the El Rocío pilgrimage. While he was going to the Pontifical Mass on horseback, a garbage truck scared the colt, which violently threw the porter to the ground on the rebound. Altered and confused, the steed ended up kicking him in the neck.

Within the range of reactions, the most heartfelt were those of the main clubs with which the goalkeeper has played: Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain. Those from Nervión dedicated their seventh Europa League to him by jumping onto the pitch of the Púskas Arena in Budapest with a shirt in his honor. The Parisians, for their part, turned the season finale against Clermont into a heartfelt tribute: shirts with his name on the back, a spectacular tifo, a goal by Sergio Ramos and a shirt in the air by Kilian Mbappé.
