Another day that passes, another day at the Virgen del Rocío Hospital in Seville for Sergio Rico. The Paris Saint-Germain goalkeeper has been hospitalized since May 28, due to the head injury he suffered in El Rocío. His condition is stable within gravity, he remains sedated and under close surveillance, awaiting significant changes to release new statements. However, his wife continues to give small updates.

It has already become common practice for Alba Silva to provide a small daily report on the condition of the Sevillian goalkeeper at the hospital gates. Except for a few days in which her state of mind blamed her, the journalist maintained a firm demeanor before the microphone of media such as Europa Press or Mediaset to address the delicate issue in the making. Today she has not been an exception and she has provided another little pill of information in the face of uncertainty.

On this occasion, Silva has also taken the opportunity to thank the support and affection received in recent weeks. From the emotional letter from his sister to the teams in which the goalkeeper has played, through thousands of people on social networks, they have all provided a show of encouragement in the face of adversity. Silva has had nothing but good words for these people, proving to be in better shape than the previous days.

Even so, the journalist has confessed that she would like “to be able to give the best news”, something that would end the suffering and hardship that her family is going through, but for now it is time to “be patient”. Silva has pointed out that everything continues more or less the same with Rico, but she has kept the most important part for her, and that is that her husband is taking small but firm steps forward.

Sergio Rico’s accident generated several unknowns around the events, but with the passing of the days they have been solved until a clear reconstruction of what happened has been obtained. The goalkeeper traveled to Huelva from Strasbourg, where he had just won Ligue 1 with PSG, to take part in the El Rocío pilgrimage. While he was going to the Pontifical Mass on horseback, a garbage truck scared the colt, which violently threw the porter to the ground on the rebound. Altered and confused, the steed ended up kicking him in the neck.

Within the range of reactions, the most heartfelt were those of the main clubs with which the goalkeeper has played: Sevilla and Paris Saint-Germain. Those from Nervión dedicated their seventh Europa League to him by jumping onto the pitch of the Púskas Arena in Budapest with a shirt in his honor. The Parisians, for their part, turned the season finale against Clermont into a heartfelt tribute: shirts with his name on the back, a spectacular tifo, a headed goal by Sergio Ramos and a shirt in the air by Kylian Mbappé.
