The AFRAM Baltimore Road Closures for Large Crowds: What to Expect

The annual AFRAM Festival is set to take place at Druid Hill Park in Baltimore, with hundreds of thousands of visitors expected to attend. This free festival showcases local artists and makers alongside big-name performers, making it one of the largest African-American cultural arts fairs on the East Coast. Last year, the festival saw an estimated 300,000 attendees, and this year promises to be just as exciting.

Road closures and parking restrictions will be in place to accommodate the large crowds and heavy traffic expected during the festival. The Baltimore City Department of Transportation has announced temporary road closures that will go into effect starting at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 20, and will remain closed until approximately 12 p.m. on Monday, June 24. Detours and parking restrictions will be in place for the following roads:
– Wyman Park Drive at Sisson Street
– Swann Drive at Druid Park Lake Drive
– Beechwood Drive at Gwynns Falls Parkway

Event parking will be available on a first-come, first-served basis at designated areas such as Taylor’s Grove, Mansion House Lawn, Chinese Grove, and Druid Hill Promenade. ADA parking will be available at the East Drive parking lot accessible from the Sisson Street entrance to Druid Hill Park.

For attendees looking for transportation options, AFRAM is introducing a new shuttle route operated by MDOT MTA to transport festival-goers to and from Mondawmin Mall. Additionally, public transit options are encouraged due to the closure of the Mondawmin MetroLink parking lot. Uber and Lyft drop-off locations will be available, and scooter rentals are an option for getting to the park, with designated scooter parking at the tennis courts.
