Actor Adan Canto ('The Cleaning Lady') dies at 42

Mexican actor Adan Canto, star of the well-known FOX series The Cleaning Lady, has died at the age of 42. The interpreter had been undergoing various treatments for months to combat an aggressive appendix cancer that he suffered from, which finally caused his death.

“Adam had a depth of spirit that few really knew. Those who glimpsed him were changed forever,” his representatives say in the statement in which they pay tribute to the interpreter.

Canto participated in the first two seasons of the famous series, having to suspend recording in the next due to his illness. However, she was confident that she would be able to recover in time and return to work as soon as possible.

Born and raised in Mexico, he left home when he was only 16 years old to fulfill his dream of devoting himself to music. However, after five years in the industry, he made the leap to Mexican television with the series Estado de Gracia. A performance that would make him known in the country, being chosen as the protagonist of the adaptation of Everything about my mother, by Pedro Almodóvar.

In 2013, he went to the United States, where he immediately became known for his role in the series The Following (2013), in which he played the charismatic Paul Torres. That success was followed by a role in the well-known X-Men saga, in the film X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014); as well as various roles in well-known series such as Narcos or Designated Survivor. The actor is survived by his wife, Stephanie, as well as his two young daughters, Roman Alder (3) and Eve Josephine (1).

Oscar-winning actress Halle Berry, who had the opportunity to direct the actor in her debut film as a director, Bruised, wanted to share a few words on social media after learning of his death. “I don’t have the words yet…but my dear, sweet friend Adam just gained his wings. Forever, forever in my heart.”

The Cleaning Lady team will pay tribute to the actor at the premiere of its third season next March, as reported by Deadline.

This type of cancer arises in the cells of the appendix itself, and many who suffer from it do not feel symptoms at the beginning of the disease. Most cases are diagnosed after undergoing surgery for acute appendicitis or when an abdominal mass is observed due to an unrelated process.

Cancer of the appendix is ??very rare. In the United States, only one or two cases occur per million people per year, being more common in those over 50 years of age.
