A very emotional Iker Muniain says goodbye to his Athletic teammates after 15 years in the team

In an emotional act full of nostalgia and gratitude, Iker Muniain, undisputed icon of Athletic Club, said goodbye to his teammates after 15 years of dedication and passion defending the red and white colors that ended with the return of the “barge” through Bilbao.

The player who was surrounded by a tremendous ovation from the entire locker room could not hold back his tears as he expressed his gratitude to the fans, the coaching staff and his teammates.

“It has been a very difficult decision, but I think it is the best for both Athletic and for me. I confess that it has been the best of my life, but now, my love, the time has come to separate us,” he said.

The captain says goodbye after winning two Super Cups (2014/15, 2019/20) and the much coveted 25th Athletic Club Cup, ending a 40-year drought in the competition most appreciated by the fans. Furthermore, he has been runner-up in the Cup on 5 occasions and once in the Europa League, which highlights his impact and contribution to the team over the years.

This impressive background reflects the dedication and exceptional talent of a player who has left an indelible mark on the club’s history.

Since his debut at the age of 16, Muniain has embodied the values ??of the Athletic youth team, being an example of dedication and loyalty. Between hugs and words of encouragement, his teammates, including the other team captain, De Marcos, dedicated words of admiration and recognition to him, highlighting his leadership on and off the field.
