The Tesla Model 3 is one of the best-selling electric cars in the world. Also in Spain. It is a compact sedan that enjoys an excellent relationship between price, autonomy and performance.
It is one of the cars that has contributed to changing the perception of electric vehicles and normalizing their use. After six years on the market and more than two million units manufactured, we are talking about a true benchmark in electric mobility.
This rear-wheel drive version of the Model 3 has received an interesting update, which translates into greater refinement, comfort and interior quality.
Tesla has worked on aerodynamics, improved lighting and made changes to the cabin, now of an even more minimalist design.
One of the great advantages of Tesla is that its models can charge at fast charging stations. The Model 3, for example, can charge up to 282 km in 15 minutes at one of more than 12,000 Supercharger locations across Europe.
With a competitive cost per kWh, 99.95% uptime, and trip planner integration, owners can enjoy great peace of mind when taking long-distance trips.
This version of the Model 3 has a 60 kWh battery and a 283 HP electric motor with rear-wheel drive. It has a price of 39,900 euros, from which official aid must be deducted. Therefore, the final price can be very interesting. Above all, because it is an electric sedan with an approved range of 554 km.
The performance is also really good: 201 km/h top speed and only 6.1 seconds to go from 0 to 100 km/h. The Model 3’s chassis is very good, with the battery being placed on the floor of the car and a very low center of gravity.
The car always feels very well poised, with a suspension with little travel, but with excellent insulation of the running gear. It is a very comfortable car, but with truly suggestive sporty behavior. In addition, the propulsion (rear-wheel drive) produces a very sporty effect when accelerating on curved roads.
The somewhat high weight takes its toll on braking due to inertia, but much less than other electric vehicles on the market. Perhaps more powerful braking would mitigate this impression. And the body always remains stable, without swaying.
The most affordable version of the Model 3 stands out, from the outset, for its ride comfort, which is the first thing that catches our attention. And the excellent insulation. A very important aspect in an electric car.
When it comes to driving, we must also value the steering very positively, with three possible adjustments, and a completely stimulating precision and speed.
This version of the Model 3 does not have regenerative braking regulation and forces you to always drive with the “one pedal” function, which works very well in the city as you practically do not have to brake. But on the road the car brakes too much.
Once in the driving position, we perceive a higher quality of the materials, with a more minimalist cabin if possible. With some pleasant-touch materials on the upper part of the dashboard, the appearance of the finish is solid, improving on the previous model.
The center console has a double wireless charger and a generous center armrest with a large interior space for all types of objects. The seats are made of vegan leather, but they do not stand out for their body support.
The huge central touch screen is 15.4 inches and presides over the dashboard. It is very easy and intuitive to use, and the quality and definition of the graphics is excellent.
The number of online services and applications is overwhelming: Google Maps, Spotify… The negative part is that everything is controlled through the screen and is not always practical. For example, to fold the mirrors, operate the climate control, regulate the steering wheel or the driving assistants. Everything has to be done on the screen.
It is also not practical that it does not have a lever, even a small one, to select the direction of travel. We must also use the screen to select position D (driving), N (neutral), R (reverse) or P (parking). And it’s not practical, really. Nor is it the fact that the satellites (levers) of the turn signals and windshield wipers have disappeared.
As for cargo space, the Model 3 has two trunks, a conventional rear one of 594 liters and a double space under the floor to store the charging cables, plus a second cargo space under the front hood that adds another 118 liters. , also ideal for cables or any other object.
Regarding autonomy, it depends a lot on the type of driving, the ambient temperature and the type of road. But it is not difficult to exceed the actual 450 km, and always with a moderate consumption of about 15 kWh in respectful driving with the accelerator.
