How to find work in Wales during a pandemic

Covid has “accelerated” industrial automation

Analysis by Huw Thomas, BBC Wales’ Money Correspondent

The Welsh labour market is strong, with more people employed than ever before the pandemic.

Although there is not a clear impact on unemployment after September’s furlough, some employees who were laid off might still be working during their notice period.

It will take several months before the statistics reflect the true effect of furlough’s ending.

Those who work are likely to feel that their paychecks are shrinking, even though there is high employment.

The inflation rate is expected to continue rising until May next year. This will make living more expensive for all, regardless of whether or not they are employed.
