The Vitoria-Gasteiz City Council has started this Tuesday an information campaign that will last until December 24, aimed at bicycle users to remind those who travel by this means of transport that at pedestrian crossings, the priority is of pedestrians and, therefore, they must get off their bike and cross on foot.
In a statement, the council has reported that this action is reinforced with other messages in which it is stated that by walking across the intersection “you become visible to other vehicles and reduce the risk of accident, in addition to helping to reinforce your own safety.” “.
The dissemination of this content will be done on municipal channels and will be completed with another campaign aimed at personal mobility vehicles. This new campaign will be launched in a few months, when the City Council approves the new ordinance that regulates the use of these scooters.
The new regulations will include, among other issues, the prohibition of driving on sidewalks and pedestrian areas and the obligation to wear a helmet, lights, bell and approved reflective elements.
