Kim Hother Sorensen and Ignacio Gubianas are the co-founders behind Nuveg, a new brand of dehydrated plant-based food products that seek to diversify the vegetarian or vegan diet. Nuveg was born within Tentorium Energy, a Catalan superfoods company, and has been cooked by Cristina Moncunill, a renowned chef for her culinary proposal in vegan cuisine that has a green Michelin star. The recipe also has the expert hand of Diego de Castro, a nutritionist specialized in healthy eating.
“We realized the potential of these foods to help complement and diversify a vegan diet and in 2020 we started working on this new line of products, which also had to be a healthy option,” says Kim Hother Sorensen, who practices CEO of the company. The first Nuveg products went on the market in the third quarter of 2023 and are currently available in around 50 physical stores in Barcelona, ??Madrid and, recently, Lisbon. They can also be purchased online, through different portals.
Nuveg’s dehydrated products are manufactured in a factory owned by Tentorium Energy, located in Ulldecona (Montsià), a town where the company has its fiscal headquarters. They have ECO and clean label certificates and the packaging is 100% compostable. Among the items for sale are a protein broth, a preparation with an egg flavor and texture, a dough with which to prepare pancakes or waffles, vegetable meatballs or a Bolognese sauce, among others.
“Unlike other plant-based proposals, Nuveg is the first company in Spain to opt for dehydrated solutions, with which we achieve important advantages. The texturing is made using mechanical procedures, avoiding the use of any chemicals and preserving the fiber from the pea and bean. Furthermore, there is no need to add preservatives, colorings or any intended ingredients,” says the co-founder.
Tentorium Energy, which also has the Energy Feelings and Green Tahr brands, employs 16 people and will end the year with a turnover of two million euros.
