As a consequence of a gynecological problem, Beatriz del Castillo began to look for panties that could be taken off and put on without having to “bend down, lift your legs or balance”. “One day I had to undress in the tiny bathroom of a restaurant and I thought how useful unzip panties would be,” explains Del Castillo. In her search, she discovered two realities: that beyond her gynecological problem, there was a great demand for women with mobility problems and that the existing supply was not aesthetically pleasing.
Little by little, the personal search was taking on a business interest, but it was not until he entered the Inicia training and accompaniment program of Barcelona Activa, in 2021, when Del Castillo fully began to create a solution for this demand. dissatisfied. After a couple of initial designs, at the end of 2022, the entrepreneur launched the definitive version of the Bix panties.
The design is the work of the patron Montse Ribera, who had already had to adapt underwear for a granddaughter with mobility problems. At the same time, the entrepreneur has collaborated with the reference center in traumatology Icatme (Catalan Institute of Traumatology and Sports Medicine) – Dexeus de Barcelona in the prototyping phase and testing of the product with traumatology patients.
For manufacturing, Del Castillo has relied on a company from Mataró that he met through his father, who works in the textile sector. They are cotton panties, which are fastened with velcro on the front, and with a more careful aesthetic. They can be purchased at orthopedic stores, pharmacies and through the brand’s website. For next year, the entrepreneur plans to start beyond Catalonia and even make the leap to other countries, with Portugal, France and Italy as the first destinations.
Currently, the founder is developing a model for men, taking into account their specific needs.
