Stock Market Recap: U.S. Stocks Experience Decline at Market Close

U.S. stocks closed lower on Friday, with losses in various sectors contributing to the decline. The Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by 0.22%, while the S&P 500 index fell by 0.11% and the NASDAQ index declined by 0.25%.

Some of the top performers on the Dow Jones included 3M Company, JPMorgan Chase & Co, and Travelers Companies. On the other hand, Unitedhealth Group, Walmart Inc, and McDonald’s Corporation were among the worst performers.

In the S&P 500 index, Air Products and Chemicals Inc, Abbott Laboratories, and Las Vegas Sands Corp were the top performers, while Enphase Energy Inc, Newmont Goldcorp Corp, and Sherwin-Williams Co were the worst performers.

On the NASDAQ Composite, Volcon Inc, STRATA Skin Sciences Inc, and CEA Industries Inc were the top performers, while Biomea Fusion Inc, Blue World Acquisition Corp, and Seres Therapeutics Inc were the worst performers.

Overall, falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on both the New York Stock Exchange and the Nasdaq Stock Exchange. The VIX, which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down by 2.86%.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures and Crude oil prices experienced declines, while the EUR/USD and USD/JPY exchange rates fluctuated. The US Dollar Index Futures, however, saw an increase.
