Some of the best-performing stocks included Rentokil Initial PLC, which saw a 13.73% increase, St. James’s Place PLC with a 4.92% rise, and Howden Joinery Group Plc up by 4.07%. On the other hand, Legal & General Group PLC experienced a 5.47% decline, B&M European Value Retail SA fell by 2.41%, and Flutter Entertainment PLC was down by 1.80%.

Overall, there were more stocks on the rise compared to those that declined, with 1199 stocks increasing, 639 decreasing, and 674 remaining unchanged on the London Stock Exchange. B&M European Value Retail SA saw a drop to a 52-week low during the trading session.

In commodities trading, Gold Futures for August delivery increased by 1.07% to $2,351.40 per troy ounce. Crude oil for delivery in July rose by 0.49% to $78.28 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract went up by 0.50% to $82.33 a barrel.

Currency exchange rates also saw some movement, with GBP/USD rising by 0.82% to 1.28 and EUR/GBP remaining unchanged at 0.84. The US Dollar Index Futures decreased by 1.22% to 103.92.
