Trigger compensation: Having to eat alone on a group tour

A one-week trip to Andalusia in Spain ended up to be a lonely affair for a Danish tourist.

the Trip was a group trip organized by the Hjerting Travel, and therefore expected the customer that she would have the opportunity to be sociable with his fellow travelers. It was the first time that she had to travel alone, and it meant a lot to her, that there was company along the way.

In spite of her expectations, it ended, unfortunately, with that she sat and kukkelurede alone in his hotel.

When the group arrived at the first hotel and got off the bus, got the client and a married couple are told that they have to stay at a completely different hotel. There was in fact overbooked.

the Rest of the group should be at the first hotel.

‘To my great surprise I should not stay at the hotel along with the large tour group. I and a married couple were driven to another hotel in the city. I mention to the wizard that it was not these circumstances, I had bought my travel after. With a great sense of being left completely alone in the world, I got checked in and was pleased to be able to foreign languages’, writing customer.

Then she meets only the large group, when on a trip. At breakfast and dinner they are sitting all alone at his hotel.

She describes the trip as good, but also mentions that it is disappointing to have to sit alone. She breaks down at the same time not to go out alone in the evening.

‘I was not a part of your group / community on ferierejsen to Andalusia. It was lonely and demanding to sit alone by the morning – and aftensmåltiderne in a week, when you were sitting among many people, as man had relations with. It was also annoying that his evenings would be spent in the room. In my aleneselskab, I chose not to go out in the vibrant city after dark’, writes the customer.

the Client asks therefore to get a compensation of Hjerting Travel.

Hjerting Travel is not at all dismissive of the customer’s desire to receive compensation. They offer a discount in the price of 1250 dollars, but the complainant is not satisfied with it.

Therefore, she sends the case to the Package-the Board of appeal. She will have 50 percent refund of the ticket full price at 7773 crowns.

the Package-the Board of appeal finds that the Hjerting Travel should have informed the customer that the original hotel was overbooked. They have not indicated that the customer thus had the right to withdraw from the agreement. The tour operator has thereby failed to comply with its reporting obligations.

6. February 2020 assigning to the Package-the Board of appeal, therefore, the complainant a discount in the price of 2000 dollars.
