MADRID, 21 (SERVIMEDIA)
Thousands of farmers are waiting at this time for the arrival of 500 tractors that have been blocked at different points at the entrance to the capital, for exceeding the number agreed with the Government Delegation in Madrid. Sources from the organization confirmed that some are already in the O’Donnell and Legazpi areas waiting for the rest of the column.
The protests began around 9:30 a.m., but some tractors had to stop the march at the entrances to the capital by decision of the civil guard, when they detected that there were 150 more tractors than the 500 agreed with the Government Delegation.
From the Unión de Uniones organization they indicated that “there is an express order to put all possible obstacles” so that the tractors “cannot reach Madrid”, so they asked the attendees for “patience.”
As they explained, there are tractors detained on the Toledo highway and in Las Rozas. Those who have been able to pass wait at other points to wait for the rest.
Most of the attendees came with yellow vests, flags and cowbells or megaphones, as well as with posters with complaints against the central government or the Common Agrarian Policy (CAP). Likewise, a group of ranchers went with a cow to the Plaza de la Independencia.
Many of the attendees held common banners with slogans such as “the countryside in struggle for the rural world” or “if there is no primary sector, your refrigerator will serve as a closet.”
