This Tesla Model S breaks all records: it has exceeded two million kilometers and continues to travel the world

Skeptics of electric technology often question the longevity of these vehicles. However, exceptional cases such as that of Hansjörg von Gemmingen-Hornberg demonstrate that, with proper maintenance, electric cars not only match, but can exceed the expected useful life. His Tesla Model S has reached the enormous figure of two million kilometers.

Hansjörg has documented his travels and the performance of his car in his X profile, showing how the mileage of his Tesla has been increasing considerably. Since the beginning of April, when his car surpassed two million kilometers, he has made numerous trips, including routes from Mauritania to Morocco and from there to Portugal.

These trips not only test the endurance of the vehicle, but also demonstrate how rigorous maintenance can extend the life of these cars. The dedication of this German driver has been key so that this Tesla can have a much longer life than expected.

Throughout his experience with the Model S, Hansjörg has had to make more than ten engine changes and another four battery changes. Interestingly, the original engine, which was installed at the factory, managed to exceed 700,000 kilometers, an impressive testament to the vehicle’s initial quality.

Each of these replacements has been essential to keep the car in optimal condition and has served to better understand how to manage the longevity of an electric car: the owner does not exceed 100 km/h and charges the battery between 15 and 70% .

This 2014 Tesla Model S P85, which Hansjörg acquired second-hand with barely 30,000 kilometers, had previously made the news for having exceeded one million kilometers. It was at that moment when Elon Musk, founder of the brand, contacted him to congratulate him on that achievement.

Now, by doubling this figure, the car not only returns to the spotlight, but also sets a precedent for what future electric vehicles could offer in terms of durability and performance. However, on this occasion it seems that Tesla did not want to give too much prominence to this electric legend.
