This Wednesday begins the second phase of the operation after Easter. Until Monday, April 10, a holiday in some Autonomous Communities, the General Directorate of Traffic expects around 12 million trips, to which must be added the more than 4.5 million registered in the first phase that took place last weekend. of week. Tens of thousands of vehicles will head from the large urban centers to second homes, mountain and coastal areas, as well as populations with traditional religious acts on these dates.
When planning the trip it is important to take into account the budget and not exceed the expenses. Although some highways that used to be tolled are now free, we must not overlook other aspects that can make the trip more expensive, such as the price of fuel, which is still high.
The service stations, in addition, no longer discount the purchase of fuel since March 31, thus adding to the previous decision of the Government that it stopped doing so on the last day of 2022. Therefore, when refueling, it is advisable to choose the cheapest gas stations to save an amount of money that, however small, will be welcome.
Fortunately, the price of diesel and diesel no longer marks the historical records of a few months ago when they cost more than two euros per liter. The Geoportalgasolineras page, of the Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, indicates that the price of 95 gasoline in Spain is 1.624 euros/liter and that of diesel is 1.524 euros/liter, with data corresponding to April 2.
This tool allows us to check where the cheapest gas stations are by performing a search by location. After first selecting the province and then the population, the website details the prices per liter of fuel at each service station. It also offers a route comparator so that the driver can design the most economical journey.
The Geoportalgasolineras website does not, however, offer a list of the cheapest service stations in Spain. To consult the list of the cheapest gas stations we can resort to other similar pages, such as Dieselogasolina. Among the search options offered by this portal is the possibility of finding out by means of a list the most economical establishments by type of fuel.
The service station with the cheapest 95 gasoline in all of Spain, as of April 4, is located in the Salamanca town of Carbajosa de la Sagrada, at 1,419 euros per liter. The list of the 10 cheapest is completed by six gas stations in Jaén, one in Jávea (Alicante) and another two in Don Benito (Badajoz), as we can see below.
As far as diesel is concerned, the cheapest service stations are located in AlmerÃa. Various establishments in Alcampo, Plenoil and Petroprix sell a liter of diesel at 1,299 euros/liter, as of April 4. They are followed by other gas stations located in Las Lagunas (Málaga), Carbajosa de la Sagrada (Salamanca) and Valencia. We can see it below.
The average price difference between ‘low cost’ gas stations and traditional ones grows to 15 cents during Holy Week after the end of the discounts provided by the big oil companies. This is the conclusion reached by the National Association of Automatic Service Stations (AESAE) after analyzing the prices published on the Gas Station Geoportal of the Ministry for Energy Transition.
Navarra is the community where consumers who use 95 gasoline can save the most when choosing the station, since the average difference is 19 cents between automatic and traditional gas stations. While in the Basque Country there is the greatest difference in diesel with 18 cents, according to the analysis.
According to AESAE calculations, this can mean a saving of about 20 euros per vehicle during this week. Taking into account that the DGT foresees 16 million journeys between the two phases of the operation starting from Easter, the total savings could reach 320 million euros if all drivers refueled at ‘low cost’ gas stations.
Facing the second phase of the Easter departure operation that begins today, Tráfico recalls the importance of checking the condition of the car to guarantee a safe trip and a smooth arrival at destination. Likewise, it recommends driving prudently and respecting the driver’s rest periods, taking a break every two hours at least.
