Allianz faces the largest compensation for a traffic accident in the history of Spain: the insurer is ordered to pay 3.3 million euros to a woman who was run over at a marked pedestrian crossing, causing her serious brain damage for which You need assistance 24 hours a day.
This compensation is crowned as the largest amount received by a single victim of a traffic accident, exceeding three million euros for the first time in the history of our country.
The driver involved in the accident has been sentenced to six months in prison and another six months of deprivation of the right to drive cars and mopeds, as well as to compensate the victim through the insurance company.
The accident took place on September 14, 2016: the victim, a domestic worker, was heading to a town in Madrid to look for her employer’s son, when she was hit by a vehicle while crossing a pedestrian crossing.
Said vehicle did not slow down when approaching the pedestrian crossing, which is why it collided with the woman. This accident caused the woman to hit her hood, being thrown from her and finally falling into the opposite lane 18 meters from the scene of the incident.
After the impact, the woman had extremely serious injuries, being admitted to the ICU for weeks. These injuries have left him with scars that have been valued at 99 points out of the maximum of 100 included in the current legal scale for the assessment of bodily harm.
